Wow, Alex gives an amazing review! It’s so well thought out and he doesn’t kiss ass; he’s honest and knows what he’s talking about. Cool.

i wouldn’t be able to handle such harsh criticism. ouch, ouch, ouch! (i suppose that’s why my creativity never sees the light of day. :/) and there are some places i agree 100% and others i disagree 100%.
the places where it seems a different voice, or perhaps where Luke should have changed it to fit better for him, i agree with. i think it’s the chorus of Boxcar Blood are where it shows most, however.
and i think Luke’s lyrical ability has definitely improved! (yours, Alan, continues to be amazing.) and i disagree with Alex’s opinion of Delete You. i think their whole album is strong, but as for “singles” i think they chose well. Don’t Unplug Me is, well it’s just wrong how catchy it is. Summer of ’09 is equally addictive. and World of Warcraft is too much fun. and i like Happy as much as i like Delete You. (i was expecting to really like the new ALL CAPS. not get addicted to it!)
and i really can’t decide which version of “Winter’s Song” i like better. they’re both AMAZING. that song is my favorite. however, i have to admit, the one song i like the cover of better is Alex’s. i warn you that one of two (or possibly both) biases are at work there. i generally enjoy songs that are energetic and simple. (can’t get more simple than a(n) ukulele and a vocal) and i’m an Alex fan, so…
and i like the new version of Mirror song better, and Tom’s version of Forgiven better.
but yeah. that said. freakin’ amazing album. (gee, do you think i used the word “amazing” enough? were there enough parentheses?)

For the most part, Alex makes a lot of sense here, but I have to respectfully disagree with him on one point in particular. Shortwave, Pt. 2 is one of my favourites on Erase This, and that's due in no small part to its slower tempo; I think it makes the chorus so much more powerful. I thought his simpler, up-tempo cover didn't do the song justice.
