DFTBA Lullabies for Henry Green

by Alan on January 24, 2010

My friends John and his wife, Sarah, recently had a baby named Henry. About two months before the due date I asked a number of the musicians on my record label to record lullabies that I could gather and put on a CD for baby Henry.

I got back 12 tracks, which was an amazing response. And all of them are so cute. Some original works. Some covers of traditional lullabies.

I sent the CD to John and Sarah the day after baby Henry was born. They listened to the CD over dinner and have already added it to mommy Sarah’s iPod.

I wanted to make the lullabies CD available for free download. So if any of you, or your friends, have newborns, or you just love falling asleep to calming lullabies, feel free to download and burn your own DFTBA Lullabies CD:

click here to download the DFTBA Lullabies CD.

The track list is below. But first, thanks to all the wonderful musicians and friends who recorded a lullaby for this little compilation. John and Sarah were very touched and send their thanks. As does baby Henry, I’m sure.

1. “Lullaby” by Alan Lastufka
2. “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” by ALL CAPS
3. “Pretty Baby” by Tom Milsom
4. “Cow Town” by Hank Green
5. “Candy Canes” by Alex Day
6. “Somewhere Wonderful” by Caitlin Sky
7. “Don’t Want To Live on the Moon” by Craig Benzine (of Driftless Pony Club)
8. “Sentiments” by Dr. Noise
9. “Peace, Love and Understanding” by Katherine Green
10. “Three Is A Magic Number” by Molly Lewis
11. “Baby Child” by Paige Harwood
12. “Why Does the Sun Really Shine” by Charlie McDonnell

My sister’s nephew-to-be just turned 1 this weekend. I also have another friend whose daughter turns 2 this year. I’ll be making cd’s of this for them both. Thank you so much, DFTBA! It just shows how awesome everyone involved with this label is.

This is epic, Henry is very lucky to have so many people who care about him. Not to mention pretty badass parents. I hope that if I ever have children one day, they have as many people who care about them.

Dream sweetly, Henry Green.

Thank you for this. You all did such a fantastic job! “Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” is one of my favorites of all time. I sang it to both of my children when they were babies.

Thank you so very much for sharing these. After raising four babies, I am a connoisseur of lullabies (and being ill I often have a hard time getting to sleep myself!) Thank you for being so generous and kind and please pass along my thanks to all of the artists involved. “Someday we’ll all be gone, But lullabyes go on and on… “

The thought of this gift and making of it is wonderful. I wasn’t lying when I continued Hank’s song as follows:

John Green loves John Green’s baby
He’s gonna be freaking cute
And when you get to see John’s baby
You’ll think he’s adorable too
He’ll flash his great big baby smile
And let out little coos
He’ll be the most loved baby on Earth
And he’s gonna be freaking cute
Oh yeah, he’s gonna be freaking cute

Thanks so much for posting this for free. I have a friend set to give birth soon. You should put it up for sale; I’d love a physical copy of the real CD for little Bean’s birth.

Well, I don’t have a baby to share this with, but I’m downloading it anyway. Maybe it’ll help put me to sleep when I can’t shut my mind off.
Henry’s got some truly awesome parents and family friends to look forward to getting to know! :D

This is so sweet.

But is anyone else having a problem with the download? It keeps telling me that the zipped folder is empty… :/

Little Henry Green is one of the luckiest kids “I know”. Nerdfighters everywhere know him and already love the newest nerdfighter. This was incredibly sweet and thoughtful and I love. All the tracks are amazing, I have to say that Sentiments by Dr. Noise might just be my favorite. But I can’t think of one I don’t love on it. Lullaby put my little sister to sleep, which I guess is the point.

High Five, thumbs up, and DFTBA :D
