“Shine/Summer of ’09” is the first Caulden Road single. It was released as a “Digital 45″, a name given at the time to two-track digital releases as a throwback to 7” singles. The iTunes Store has since stopped using the name.

“Shine” is a song leftover from my cancelled solo album The Death of a Rockstar. After Christian Caldeira and I started working together as The Caulden Road, I pitched the demo for our first single and we recorded the track.

The back cover art simulated a used 7″ single picture sleeve.

The b-side, “Summer of ’09”, is a song left off of my previous solo album Erase This. The song didn’t fit with the rest of Erase This, so I gave it to pop band ALL CAPS and they recorded the song for their album Bmin/E. Christian and I later rearranged the song as a rock track and recorded it for this release with indie singer/songwriter Meghan Tonjes.

Both “Shine” and “Summer of ’09” are now featured on The Early Singles compilation release.
