The English Language was my collaborative musical project with Robert Randolph.
We only recorded two songs together, one released, one unreleased.
“Roses and Overturned Ashtrays” was released on October 25, 2005. Four days later, Chris Walla (guitarist for the band Death Cab for Cutie) reviewed the track, saying: “I think this is great. I like that it’s a big study in texture as focus, or style as substance, or something like that. Really cool.”
The second song, “This Autist’s Eyes”, was originally intended as a b-side for “Roses and Overturned Ashtrays” but remained unreleased until the summer of 2020 when part of the instrumental track was used to score the final scene in my “The Fort” audiovisual project.
