LAUNCHED July 2, 2006
ZineWiki Independent Media Wiki

I co-founded ZineWiki (“The Independent Media Wiki”) with Kate Sandler in 2006. Kate and I worked together on various Fall of Autumn projects and saw the need for something like ZineWiki.

ZineWiki is an open-source encyclopedia devoted to zines and the independent media. It covers the history, production, distribution, and culture of the small press. ZineWiki’s content is written collaboratively by many of its readers.

The site has become a great resource for information on often ephemeral indie publications, such as self-published comics, zines, and books.

Fifteen years after its launch, ZineWiki has over 5,000 pages of content, cataloging individual issues, writers, artists, and various projects, and the site has been visited more than 50 million times.

Early collaborations with Punk Planet, Zine World, and other popular indie publications gave the site a springboard and it has only grown since. Everyone is invited to add or edit pages where needed. Registration and access are free.
